Biography

My research centers on understanding the developmental mechanisms linking children’s early environments with risk for psychopathology, with an emphasis on the context of early childhood poverty. I’m particularly interested in parsing heterogeneity in the emergence of psychopathology among children exposed to adversity. My work aims to identify sources of multisystem resilience across family, neighborhood, and community contexts that are targetable through intervention and policy. I’m also interested in methods and measurement, particularly as it relates to how our operationalization of the core features of the environment may influence our conclusions about the role of early experiences in shaping development.  I am grateful to pursue my research goals under the mentorship of Dr. Ann Masten, Dr. Dan Berry, and Dr. Ka Ip.
